I wrote a song called "Pretty Hard" and sent the unfinished demo to Nick Lopez asking that he write additional lyrics and contribute vocals to it. There were literally just 8 bars or so in what I call the bridge section that he could have filled, but he went about a thousand times further than that by basically reproducing the song from scratch. In his head he must have heard it as more of a piano ballad than the keyboard-pop song that it was at that point. He asked me for all of my keyboard stems individually, which I sent him. He then played some piano, and mixed his piano up with my original music stems, and sent back a demo with his own vocals on it, and asked that I re-record my vocals to more align with his than what my original vocals were, and send the stems of my newly recorded vocals back, which I did, and this is the outcome of that. Talk about a major collaboration!
lyrics
Verse 1:
I’d like to say that I hate you, but I don’t
I’d like to say I don’t miss you, but I do
I think it’s clear you still captivate me, yes you do
I’d like to say I’m over you, but I’m not
Hook:
Want to move beyond the love in you I never had and
Chorus:
It’s getting pretty hard to hold you
It’s getting pretty hard to fake you
I wish that I could just forget you
I wish that I had never met you
Verse 2:
I wanna go but I’m stuck here, with you on my mind
forgetting you is one of my fears, what the fuck
I have to think what you put me through, all that hell
I have to say that I saw through you, you’re such a dick
Hook:
Want to move beyond the love in you I never had and
Chorus:
It’s getting pretty hard to hold you
It’s getting pretty hard to fake you
I wish that I could just forget you
I wish that I had never met you
Bridge:
And I’d like to say that you didn’t get what you wanted
But we both know that’s a lie
And it’s getting pretty hard to push these thoughts aside
You tied my hands to my back and threw me on the tracks
But my love for you has never died
Chorus:
It’s getting pretty hard to hold you (It’s getting pretty, it’s getting pretty hard)
It’s getting pretty hard to fake you (to fake you, to fake you)
I wish that I could just forget you (forget you, forget you)
I wish that I had never met you (oh oh oh oh)
It’s getting pretty hard to hold you (to hold you oh)
It’s getting pretty hard to fake you (to fake, fake you)
I wish that I could just forget you (to forget you, get you)
‘Cause it’s getting pretty hard to hold you

Who doesn't enjoy an interesting indie artist? Am I good, am I bad? Who knows. Guess we'll all have to wait and see. Yes,
"we" 'cause not even I know myself anymore. I think that really comes out in the tunes though. Who knows, perhaps it may be you who can help solve a mystery? Yeah, I like a lot of retro television :D But I'll be there for you, if you're there for me too! Ha...more
